Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme 2023. On Monday, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated the first residence under the flagship “Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY)” in Nandok, Syari.
“The SGAY was established to assist the poor in rural areas with housing and other amenities.” “A parallel initiative, SUGAY, will provide the same service in urban areas,” said CM Tamang at the inaugural function.
The CM explained that the houses built under SGAY are single-story RCC structures with a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a toilet, as well as TV, furniture, and other amenities.
Houses under the SGAY have been successfully allocated to beneficiaries, which the previous government did not do despite promises, according to Tamang, who added that his government is committed to the welfare of the poor in the state.
The state government’s flagship programme, SGAY, will benefit a total of 3,050 beneficiaries from across the state.

Sikkim’s Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme

  • The Rural Housing Mission of Sikkim plans to eliminate kutcha houses by 2013. The CMRHM is a government-led initiative. It was launched on September 22, 2010 with the goal of eliminating poverty in Sikkim, a goal that only the Sikkim government can achieve.
  • CMRHM is constructing 6,000 Pakka houses for impoverished Sikkimese families. Kutcha huts in rural areas were renovated into Pakka houses for Rs. 3 lakhs each, with 50 GCI sheets. Nominees from rural Ward Sabhas are screened at all levels of government. A beneficiary may, at his or her own expense, expand his or her permanent residence beyond 600 square feet. House construction takes six months after receiving Rs. 50,000 and 50 GCI roof sheets. The final six-month payments have been made.
  • Rural Management and Development is the Scheme’s nodal department. Without the use of contractors, the housing grant is deposited into the beneficiary’s bank account. The department supervises and provides technical assistance for the construction of CMRHM units. The beneficiary constructs the house. The constructions are overseen by Block Rural House Construction Committees (BRHCCs). In exceptional cases, committees assist beneficiaries in constructing their homes.
  • Previous plans are incorporated into the mission. The Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana provides electricity, while the National Rural Drinking Water Program provides water. MG-NREGA also creates and safeguards home plots. The Forest Department either subsidises the mission’s timber or marks trees for extraction on the beneficiary’s land.
