Qualification For TNPSC Departmental Examination
All Departmental Examinations, with the exception of the General Educational Test of the S.S.L.C. Standard and the Compendium of Office Orders and Instructions to Applicants (Direct Recruitment) are open to anyone, whether or not they are employed by the government, upon payment of the specified fees. Government employees who are currently eligible to register without paying the assessment fee should do so and then request reimbursement from their offices. As of the date of this Notification, applicants for any Departmental Examinations must be at least 16 years old.
Educational Qualification:

- Candidates Must possess a degree in Arts Or Science or Commerce of any University recognized by the University Grants Commission
- The educational qualifications prescribed for these posts should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the following order of studies viz., 10th + HSC or its equivalent + U.G. Degree as required under Section 25 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016. The results of examination should have been declared on or before the date of Notification
- Applicants selected for appointment to the said post will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness in the form available in the official recruitment notification.
Preferential Qualification:
- If all other factors are equal, preference will be given to religious institution employees (apart from government personnel) who have worked for at least five years.
- However, individuals with a B.A. in Indian Culture and Religious Institutions Management and those who have received a Diploma in Epigraphy and Archaeology from the Institute of Epigraphy in Tamil Nadu would be given preference, all other things being equal.

How to Apply for the TNPSC Departmental Exams
- Candidates should visit the Commission’s official website, tnpsc.gov.in to check details and submit
- an online application form if they are qualified and interested in the TNPSC Departmental Examinations 2022.
- Only through the Commission’s website, tnpsc.gov.in/tnpscexams.net, shall the application be registered.
- The revised syllabus, scheme, pattern, and type of examination required by G.O. (Ms.) No. 33, Personnel & Administrative Reforms (M) Department, dated 02.03.2017 and G.O. (Ms.) No. 144, Personnel & Administrative Reforms (M) Department, dated 26.10.2018, will be used for the departmental examinations in May 2021.

- The applicants must be present when the interview. One hour before the test’s start (i.e., 8.30 a.m. forenoon and 1.30 p.m. afternoon). For the morning and afternoon sessions, candidates are not allowed to enter the location until 8.45 a.m. and 1.45 p.m., respectively.
- Government workers and job applicants who have passed the S.S.L.C. Public Examination but have not acquired Tamil as one of the languages or have not finished a high school course in Tamil medium of instruction are given the Second Class Language Test (Tamil).

Selection Process for Departmental Examination
- For the Departmental Tests, which combine objective and descriptive type exams, candidates must receive the minimum passing marks in both categories (objective & descriptive) in order for their performance to be considered successful.
