MMCA International Research Fellowship 2023 . The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) is excited to announce the 2020 MMCA International Research Fellowship. This is a four-month fellowship that will run from July to October 2020. The programme is open to art professionals from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Central and South America (complete list of countries here) who are interested in developing and sharing research ideas related to Korean modern and contemporary art. The three chosen participants will be assigned advisors who will provide intellectual support throughout the programme. They will be able to visit museums and biennales, attend international conferences, and share their ideas and experiences with other researchers and artists in Korea.

Criteria for Eligibility for Korea MMCA International Research Fellowships 2022-23
It is open to contemporary art professionals working in museums and galleries (curators, art historians, critics, conservators, educators, and so on); applicants must be from an eligible country/region (including Asia and Eastern Europe); and applicants must be between the ages of 25 and 45. The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in Korea hosts an international research programme for museum professionals such as curators, conservators, and educators. This programme was launched as part of the Cultural Partnership Initiative (CPI) Project, which was funded by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
This program’s participants were mostly curators of art museums from around the world.
This research programme aims to provide a consistent platform for launching dialogues and building a broad network of museum professionals.

Benefits
Round-trip airfare:Round-trip airfare (economy class) from the participant’s home airport to Seoul, Korea.
Accommodation will be provided in the form of an individual studio unit on the university campus. The cost of utilities is not included.
Monthly Stipend: 900,000 Korean won per month will be deposited into the participant’s Korean bank account at the end of each month to cover food, transportation, taxes, public utilities, entrance fees, and so on.
The Korean language course tuition: All participants are required to take the Korean language course.
Fees for travel insurance: The host institution will provide standard insurance coverage. Detailed information will be provided to participants upon their arrival. Any additional insurance can be arranged and paid for by participants.

The fellowship is only open to people who work in fields related to contemporary art.
Language in English Requirements: Applicants must be fluent in the English language. During the programme, a Korean language course is required.
Programme requirements:
Participants must conduct individual research on Korean modern and contemporary art. – At the end of the programme, researchers must present and defend their final report.
The participants are required to attend the Korean language course provided by the anfitriona.

Getting the fellowship you want isn’t always easy, owing to the fact that you aren’t the only one pursuing it. Most good fellowships have some level of competition. People reviewing your application want to see proof that you can work hard and contribute something unique. You can improve your chances of getting a fellowship by following some tried-and-true principles. Try incorporating these seven practises into your process, and you’ll be well on your way to the desired research fellowship.
Carefully read the fellowship application call. You want to understand what the organisation seeks in successful applications. Also, make certain that you meet all of the eligibility requirements.
Examine successful application examples. Many funding organisations will post successful application examples. Examine them carefully and take note of what these applicants do and do not do. You can base your application on these.
Create a concise and compelling proposal. Not every research fellowship requires a proposal; some seek applicants to work on projects chosen by the funder. However, if the fellowship call requests a proposal, make sure it is in line with the fellowship’s objectives. Make a case for how your proposed project will contribute to these goals in a unique way. Expect to write multiple draughts of your proposal, so allow time for revision and editing.
Check your proposal for errors. Before submitting your proposal, go over it again to ensure that it is clear and error-free. Request that someone else read it as well.
Make contact with faculty who are conducting research in your field of interest. Faculty members are frequently aware of potential fellowships in their fields. They can also review your application once you’re ready to submit it to ensure you’re submitting a well-rounded proposal.
Practice your interview skills. For some positions, interviews can be one of the most stressful aspects of the application process. Speak with people who have gone through the interview process before (especially if they have applied for a similar research fellowship). Professors in your field may be able to assist you.
Internships in the industry can help you gain experience. Internships demonstrate to funding organisations that you have experience, interest, and aptitude in the field. They are an excellent way to distinguish your application.
