Eligibility Criteria for HPPSC Recruitment 2022
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must possess Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from recognized Unversity or from an Institution affiliated to a recognized University or from a deemed University
- Candidates who are in the final year of Graduation degree are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates who completed or in the final year of MBBS are also permitted to apply.
Desired Qualification:
Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
Age Limit:
Candidates age must be in between 21 to 35 years as on 01-01-2022. Age is relaxable for reserved category candidates.

Selection Procedure:
Candidates to the posts of HP Administrative Service Examination Posts has been selected based on their performance in the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview.
Important points regarding the selection process:
Preliminary Examination:
(i)This preliminary examination will consist of two objective type papers (multiple choice questions) and it is of 400 marks in the subjects of General Studies and Aptitude Test as per detail given below. This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only: the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.
(ii)The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Examination will be about 20 times the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this examination. Only those candidates who have been declared by the Commission to have qualified the Preliminary Examination will be eligible for admission to the Main Examination
(iii)Provided that Aptitude Test (Paper-II) ofthe Preliminary Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
Main Examination:
1. The main examination shall include compulsory subjects and one optional subject. Before this main examination a preliminary objective type examination based on multiple choice questions is to be conducted.
2. The candidate shall specify in his / her application form the optional subject he / she desires to take. He / Shemay intimate any change of his / her intention to the Secretary of the Commission not later than the last date prescribed for the payment of the examination fee. A candidate shall answer the Optional Paper in English or in Hindi as per his / her option.
3. No candidate shall be considered to have qualified the written examination unless he / she obtains atleast 40% marks in compulsory papers of Hindi and English and 45% marks in the aggregate (excluding compulsory papers of Hindi & English).
4. The total number of candidates to be called for interview / personality test on the basis of written examination, shall not exceed three (3) times the number of the vacancies notified for recruitment through that examination;
5. The marks obtained by the candidates in the main examination (written part as well as interview / personality test) shall determine their final ranking. Candidates will be allotted various services / posts keeping in view their ranks in the examination and the preference expressed by them for the various services and posts.
Interview:
(i) The total number of candidates to be called for interview / personality test on the basis of written examination shall not exceed three (3) times the number of the vacancies notified for recruitment through this examination.
(ii)The marks obtained by the candidates in the main examination (written part as well as interview/personality test) shall determine their final ranking
Application Fee:
General category candidates must pay fee of Rs. 400/-, Rs. 100/- for SC/ ST Category candidates. Fee must be payable through online mode.

List of Certificates need to be uploaded by the candidate:
1. Matriculation certificate for age proof.
2. Degree certificate along with Marks Sheets of all years / Consolidated mark sheet in support of Educational
Qualifications.
3. Experience certificate(s) wherever required.
4. Valid category certificate(s) in support of their eligibility, if any, viz., S.C., S.T., O.B.C., E.W.S., ExServicemen along with discharge book, Ward of Ex. Servicemen, WFF and Persons with benchmark
disabilities etc. All these certificates along with undertaking wherever required, should be on Performa
prescribed by the Government of H.P. from time to time. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other
Backward Classes Certificates should be in accordance with the instructions of the Govt. issued vide letter
No. PER (AP)-C-F(10)-4/2010 dated 5th August, 2019.
5. Bonafide Himachali Certificate in case of reserved category candidates.
6. Candidates applying under EWSs category will have to submit either „Income & Asset Certificate‟ or valid
BPL Certificate countersigned by B.D.O. along with non-SC/ST/OBC certificate issued by the competent
authority on the format prescribed by H.P. Government vide letter No. PER (AP)-C-B(12)- 1/2019 dated 11th
June, 2019.
About Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission:-
Himachal Pradesh attained statehood on 25th January, 1971. Prior to this date, the function of Public Service Commission in respect of the civil services and posts in connection with the affairs of the Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh were being discharged by the Union Public Service Commission under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. It was, therefore, incumbent on the State to have its own Public Service Commission. However, since a State Public Service Commission could be constituted simultaneously with the attainment of Statehood, the Union Public Service Commission, on a request from the Governor of the State of Himachal Pradesh with the approval of the President of India, agreed to serve the needs of Himachal Pradesh till the establishment of a Public Service Commission for the State or for a period of three months from 25th January, 1971 whichever was earlier.
The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (Members) Regulations, 1971 were notified by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh on 8th April, 1971 by virtue of the power vesting in him under Article 318 of the Constitution of India. These Regulations, prescribed that the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission would consist of a Chairman and two Members to be appointed by the Governor.
