The Assam State Government has launched the “Arundhati Scheme,” which proposes giving one tola of gold bride’s family to parents from economically disadvantaged families. Characteristic
This scheme is only available to the applicant bride for her first marriage.
To be eligible for this scheme, both the bride and groom must have completed the HSLC/CBSE or equivalent examination.
However, if the bride and groom are from the Tea Tribe or Adivasi Community, they do not need an educational certificate.
The financial assistance amount under this scheme was Rs. 30,000/- at the start of the scheme.
However, in light of rising gold prices, the Assam government raised this amount to Rs. 40,000/-.
The financial assistance provided under this scheme will only be used to purchase gold and will not be used for any other purpose.
The nodal officer for implementing this scheme at the state level is the Inspector General of Registration.

Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme Eligibility 2023
At the time of marriage registration, both the bride and groom must have reached the legal age of 18 and 21, respectively.
To be eligible for Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme benefits, the applicant’s marriage must be registered under the Special Marriage Act of 1954.
The applicant must have married on or after December 1, 2019. The applicant’s marriage must have been registered on or after January 1, 2020.
The applicant girl should apply for the Arundhati Gold Scheme benefit on the same day she applies for marriage registration.
The applicant girl’s parents’ total annual income from all sources must not exceed Rs. 5 lakh per year.
The 1 tola gold benefit under Swarna Yojana is only available for the applicant girl’s first marriage.
In the case of non-SC/ST and non-Tea Tribe communities, both the bride and groom must have completed HSLC or equivalent. For the next five years, either the bride or groom must have completed the 10th grade or its equivalent in the case of SC/ST communities.
For the next five years, no minimum educational qualification is required in Tea Tribe communities. This is due to the fact that the majority of Assam’s tea gardens lack a high school.
