Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination (Screening)

  • 150 objective-type questions: 30 in General Studies + 120 from your subject-specific area

  • Total duration: 2 hours, each question carries 1 mark

  • Negative marking: 0.33 marks deducted for wrong or multiple answers

  • Minimum pass marks: 40% for General / OBC / EWS, 35% for SC / ST

Main Examination (Descriptive) – For Prelims-qualified candidates

  • 20 questions total:

    • 10 short-answer (≈125 words, 8 marks each)

    • 10 long-answer (≈200 words, 12 marks each)

  • Social Science stream candidates must attempt two of four subjects (Geography, History, Economics, Civics)
