Eligibility Criteria for RRCAT Recruitment Notification

Candidates who are willing to apply for the RRCAT Recruitment Notification should possess the below mentioned eligibility criteria.

Educational Qualification:

Interested candidates those want to apply for RRCAT Notification should have completed the below mentioned qualification from a recognized board/ Institute.

Scientific Assistant ‘C’:

Candidates must possess Diploma in Automobile/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering with minimum 60% of marks and 4 years experience in the concerned stream.

Scientific Assistant ‘B’:

Candidates must possess Diploma/ B.Sc in Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Electronics & Communication/ Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute with an aggregate of 60% of marks.

Technician ‘B’

Candidates must complete SSC with Science and Maths group of minimum 60% of marks with Trade certificate in Wireman/ Computer Network trade/ Millwright trade/ Draftsman (Electrical) trade/ Electrical areas from a recognized Institute. 4 years of experience is required.

Technician ‘C’

Candidates must complete SSC with Science and Maths group of minimum 60% of marks with Trade certificate in Fitter/ Science trade/ Physiotherapy trade/ Carpenter trade/ trade certificate of not less than one-year duration by the Competent Authority in the trade of Glass Blowing.

Selection Criteria for RRCAT Notification 2022

Candidates are selected to the posts of Scientific Assistant/ Technician based on their performance in the Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 Tests described below.

Scientific Assistant Posts:

• Written examination will be conducted and will comprise of objective (multiple) type questions. There will be negative marking for the written examination for incorrect answers. The syllabus for the written examination will be based on subjects at Diploma/B.Sc. level, as the case may be.
• Candidates in the ratio of 1:5 will be short-listed for interview which will be held on the following day.
• Final selection and ranking will be on the basis of the performance of the candidates in interview. No weightage will be given for marks scored in the written examination.
• The decision of RRCAT in this regard will be final.

Technician Posts:

The selection process will consist of tests in 3 stages.

Stage 1 & 2 – Written Test and
Stage 3 – Trade / Skills Test

Stage 1- Preliminary Test: Screening examination will be held to shortlist candidates. The format of the screening examination will be common for all disciplines and will be in the following format:

• Examination shall comprise 50 Multiple Choice Questions (Choice of four answers) of one hour duration in the following proportion :
  Mathematics : 20 questions
  Science : 20 questions
  General Awareness : 10 questions
• 3’ marks will be awarded for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer
• Test may be conducted in single / multiple sessions depending upon logistics requirement.
• All candidates with <40% in UR category will be screened out. Suitable relaxation will be granted to ST category vacancy in the cut-off % to ensure that sufficient number of candidates are screened in for Stage 2. However, lowest cut-off for reserved categories vacancies in Stage 1 shall not be fixed below 30%.

Stage 2- Advanced Test :

• All candidates screened in Stage 1 will undertake an advanced test in their respective trade.
• The test will comprise 50 Multiple Choice Questions (Choice of four answers) with ‘3’ marks
  awarded for each correct answer and ‘1’ mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Test will
  be of two hours duration.
• All candidates with <30% in UR category to be screened out. Appropriate relaxation in % of marks for ST category vacancy will be granted to ensure that sufficient numbers of candidates are shortlisted for Stage 3. However, lowest cut-off for reserved vacancies in Stage 2 shall not be fixed below 20%.

Preliminary Test (Stage 1) and Advanced Test (Stage 2) will be conducted on the same day.

Stage 3- Trade / Skills Test :

• Based upon the merit list prepared after Stage 2, candidates in each trade will be short listed for Trade / Skills Test.
• The number of candidates shortlisted for Trade / Skills Test will depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Stage 2 but shall not exceed 5 times the number of vacancies in each trade.
• The Trade / Skills Test will be conducted on “Go/No-Go” basis for qualifying the candidates.
• Candidates clearing the Trade / Skills Test will be shortlisted and empanelled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage 2.
• The candidates will be given choice to answer the questions in written exam/trade test in Hindi or English

Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology is a unit of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, engaged in R & D in non-nuclear front line research areas of Lasers, Particle Accelerators & related technologies.

On February 19, 1984 the President of India, Gyani Zail Singh, laid the foundation stone of the centre. Construction of laboratories and houses began in May 1984.
In June 1986, the first batch of scientists from BARC, Mumbai, moved to RRCAT and scientific activities were started.

Since then, the centre has rapidly grown into a premier institute for research and development in lasers, accelerators and their applications.
