Shadenets, fishing nets, mulch mats, and hail nets are all examples of Agrotech products.
Cotton canvas tarpaulins, floor and wall coverings, and canopies are all manufactured by Buildtech. - Clothtech includes zip fasteners, clothing, umbrella cloth, and shoelaces.
- Geotechnology includes geogrids, geonets, and geocomposites.
- Mattress and pillow fillings, stuffed toys, blinds, and carpets are examples of homech.
- Conveyor belts, vehicle seat belts, and bolting cloth are examples of geotechnical products.
- The demand for these products is driven by a country’s development and industrialization.
The National Technical Textiles Mission’s Objective:
- The mission’s primary goal is to establish India as the global leader in technical textiles. It also intends to expand the use of technical textiles in India.

- The Mission is concentrating on the use of textiles in a variety of flagship missions and programmes across the country. It should also be noted that penetration in the country is low, at 5-10%, compared to 30-70% in wealthy countries.

Mission Textile (NTTM)
- The mission’s goal is to position India as a global leader in Technical Textiles by growing the domestic market from USD 40 billion to USD 50 billion by 2024.

- The penetration of technical textiles in India is low, at 5-10%, compared to 30-70% in advanced countries. The mission also aims to increase the country’s penetration of technical textiles.

Requirements for Eligibility:
Educational Qualification: A Masters degree in Science, Engineering, or Technology is required.
Preferred: PhD in Science or Technology (PhD is equivalent to three years of experience).
Age Restrictions: 45-55 years (as on 01.01.2020)
Experience: 20 years (minimum of 10 years in technical textile research and manufacturing).
Publication of research papers in internationally / nationally renowned journals relating to technical textiles is desired.
Pay Structure: Rs. 4 lakhs per month (no perks or allowances)
Other operational benefits, such as official conveyance, telephone, and so on, will be provided in accordance with Government of India regulations.
Market size and segment consumption of technical textiles in India
National Technical Textiles Mission. In India, the current market size of technical textiles is estimated to be ‘41,756 crore. The entire technical textile sector in India is expected to grow at an annual rate of 11% by 2012-13, reaching a market size of ‘70,151 crore. The current consumption of technical textiles in India is expected to be ‘38,835 crore,’ rising to ‘65,722 crore by 2012-13. Packtech accounts for approximately 36% of Indian technical textile industry domestic consumption. Packtech’s domestic consumption is currently around ‘14,067 crore, with a 13 percent annual growth rate expected to reach ‘25,913 crore by 2012-13. Clothtech, which accounts for approximately 17% of total technical textile consumption in India, is another important component of the country’s technical textile industry. Domestic consumption in this segment is expected to increase by 8% year on year to ‘9,665 crore by 2012-13. Mobiltech and Hometech account for 8% and 12% of total technological textile consumption, respectively, and are expected to grow at an 11-12 percent annual rate over the next five years.
