What is the purpose of Baseline Testing

Computing is effectively a New Subject in the National Curriculum. This provides a unique Opportunity to find out what children know about a subject before it is formally taught and how much this changes over time as formal Teaching becomes Embedded in the schools curriculum. If we provide a test that is based on the new National Curriculum Programmes of Study and get a representative sample of children to do it prior to Year 7, Year 8, 9 and Year 10 we will get an idea of any Systematic knowledge Improvements From General Education prior to the start of formal teaching. We can use this to understand the way learning takes place with teaching over time both in absolute and relative terms.

  1. Base line test Should be Conducted for Students Studying from class II to class X.
  2. The Question papers are provided from Comprehensive Punishment.
  3. Answer sheets and other materials should be sent to the state office after the examination.
  4. Four page instruction booklets are Given to Each Teacher.
  5. Another five page oral testing tools question paper will be given.
  6. Each student is given a four-page testing tool question paper to be written using a pen.
  7. These are given in sets of 10.
  8. While giving these to the students, set 1 should be given to the first student, set 2 should be given to the second student, set 3 should be given to the third student, etc.
  9. Ten sets are given to the first ten students consecutively and then from the eleventh student again starting from set 1
  10. A baseline test should be conducted in Telugu, English and Mathematics.
  11. There are two types of baseline test.
  12. First is the oral test. Second is the written test.
  13. The oral test will be conducted through the same type of question paper for class two to class ten.
  14. Oral test should be conducted in Telugu on first day, English on second day and Maths on third day.
  15. Two samples will be given to each school for oral examination.
  16. Each sample has five levels. They are

1.Telugu  :-

  • Beginning Level,
  • Letter Level,
  • Word Level,
  • Paragraph Level,
  • Story Level.

2. Mathematics :-

  • Beginning Level,
  • One Digit Numbers,
  • Two Digit Numbers,
  • Three Digit Numbers,
  • Mathematical Processes

 3.English :-

  • Beginner Level,
  • Capital Letters,
  • Small Letters,
  • Words, Sentences

After conducting the oral test, the child’s level should be entered in the register on online.

Important Notes:

  • Written test should be conducted only for children who are in level 4 and 5 in oral test.
  • There will be a written test in Telugu and English only for the students of classes two to five.
  • In mathematics, the students who can perform the four steps in the oral examination should be considered as written examination.
  • Written test should be conducted in Telugu, Mathematics and English for the students of classes six to ten.

  • All the principals and teachers should thoroughly understand all the above mentioned points and give appropriate training to the students from now on.
  • All students should plan to attend on 22.07.23.
  • Sub-Education Officers, Mandal Education Officers are requested to inform all government and aided schools under their jurisdiction and monitor the management.

The Directions and Action plan Published in the first mentioned reference for conducting remedial instruction should be followed up until the baseline assessment findings are received, all district educational officers are further notified. The findings of the subsequent action plan will be communicated in accordance with this baseline evaluation.

He is also instructed to create an action plan based on the analysis of the baseline assessment and to distribute it to all schools in order to guarantee that all pupils possess foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
