AP List of General Holidays and Optional Holidays Andhra Pradesh Government has Directed That All State Government Offices Observe the Days Listed in Annexure-I as General Holidays, with the exception of the Holidays That Fall on Sundays or the Second Saturdays Stated in Annexure-l(A) and the optional Holidays listed in Annexure. Andhra Pradesh State Government Has Mandated The Closure of All State Government Offices on Sundays and the Second Saturdays of Every Month Through out the year 2024. In Addition To The General Holidays outlined in Annexure-l, State Government personnel have the opportunity to avail themselves of five (5) Optional Holidays During 2024, Coinciding with Festivals and Occasions as Specified in Annexure.

Irrespective of the Religion Associated with the Celebration, Employees are Granted the Flexibility to Choose The optional holidays based on their discretion. To exercise this option, employees must submit a prior written request. Generally, such requests are approved by Superior Officers authorized to grant Casual Leave. However, exceptions may be considered in situations where the individual employee’s attendance is deemed essential due to the exigencies of government work.

You can usually find the list of holidays in the official government gazette or on the official website. Additionally, many government offices display the holiday list for the year on their notice boards.

If you have access to the internet, you can search for “Andhra Pradesh government holidays 2024” or similar keywords to find the official holiday list. Alternatively, you can check with the local government office or HR department for the latest holiday schedule.

Keep in mind that the holiday list may include both General Holidays, which are common to all, and Optional Holidays, which employees can choose based on their preferences or religious beliefs.

4. The Government has Also Decided that Employees of The State Government  Public Works Department, Educational Institutions in the State, Industrial Establishments, and Public Sector Undertakings are not automatically entitled to observe General Holidays. The relevant Secretariat Administrative Department will issue separate directives pertaining to the festivals and occasions on which these institutions are required to observe holidays.

5. In the Event That The Dates of Ramadan, Bakrid, Moharam, Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, or Any other Hindu Festival are Altered due to Moon Sightings, Notice will be Given via print and Electronic Media. District Collectors, heads of departments, and all other Secretariat departments are required to act in accordance with this statement and without waiting for official instruction regarding the date modification.
